I received The Art of Innovation the day before I flew to Russia last month, and thus read the whole book during the 2 day flight. Having been a design engineer, naturally I could not put the book down. When I started Jubilee Institute of Applied Technology, a not-for-profit organization for teaching orphans in CIS countries "Creativity and Innovation" so they may compete in the global marketplace, my focus was very similar to many of the concepts presented in The Art of Innovation. However, this book has added needed refinements and substantial depth to our education model, and we are convinced that by implementing some of the ideology you present, it will provide the necessary framework to help untold numbers of orphans in former Soviet Union countries have a brighter future. Thank you Mr. Kelley for sharing your experiences and wisdom. I invite you and your associates to join us in helping these orphans have a future through "innovation workshops" in respective CIS countries!

As a student at Northwood University, I have had the opportunity to read The Art of Innovation for one of my courses. It is an excellent book, filled with outstanding strategies and techniques that could be used to make any business a market leader. It has inspired me to strongly consider developing a business of my own after graduation. Thanks for the motivation and for making class a little more interesting!

Your book has been a handbook for inspiration. I own a small toy store which tries to exist amidst large corporate competitors. My staff and I use your brainstorming sessions to stay fresh, alert and innovative. we have learned to watch our customers in the enviroment we have created for them. We have a total committment of not ignoring the obvious, the latent or the creative. We have learned to appreciate our collective instincts for aesthetic toys, service and knowledge. Thanks.

I found this book so interesting that I fell in love reading it when first saw it. True, innovation is the soul of business progress and success. Realizing innovation is a must-do for every business person in the world, whatever industry he is in. I am in a industry of finance, and I think that the service process can be integrated with the concept of innovation. Innovation can make financial service more human and efficient. It's also true in life.

As a design teacher I have made your book one of the 'must read' ones for my graduate and PG students and for Industry trainees with whom I interact. I teach a course now called "Design Concepts and Concerns" which follows much of the ideology embedded in your work style, especially teamwork and an open informated culture and this course has been developed and taught at our Institute over the past twenty years or so. It is great to see such an excellent articulation of what we have always believed in at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India and I would be happy to share our papers on the subject which is now available free on a CD-ROM format as a limited edition.

It is a unique opportunity to get into the great world of such a company who knows how to work. Tks a lot for your generosity way of teaching this exciting way of development The Art of Innovation.

Echo: It's truly inspirational and a must read. Makes me push myself to start something of my own.

The book is being used as a metaphor for graduate students in communication who must develop research questions. I am finding each chapter valuable in moving students in creative directions. Whether it be a physical product or an intellectual breakthrough, the innovative process is similar. The book has been popular--one student even said this was the first book she had ever read completely! That's a valuable endorsement.

Throughout the world there is a lot of creativity that goes unnoticed and unappreciated. This book highlights the importance of the creative mind and the need to incorporate it into the business model. As a business owner myself, running a growing web creative company, I have found myself trying to instill what is written into the minds of my customers and employees. It has helped us create better works for our customers. It is a great book and a must read!

This is a must read. This book has inspired me to look at the world from a completely different view. I saw the Nightline episode over a year ago and was inspired by the IDEO processes and how hot groups really work. I am thankful that you took the time to share your wonderful stories with all of us. I work for a Professional Services Consulting company and look forward to integrating some of these great ideas into our culture and services to our customers.

I ordered this book based solely on Tom Peters recomendation. It arrived at my door (by sheer coincidence!?) just as I was in the middle of one of the toughest projects I have faced. I was sure I would not meet the deadline and live up to my own standards. One night, four chapters, and some ultra-inspired prototyping later, and I was on the way to work that WOWed my client for a loop, undoubtedly one of our greatest jobs yet!

Joerg Kress, Kleinostheim, Germanyme
I bought this book to learn something about IDEO. However I learned something about life, which is good for someone being still at school, just like me. I just can't wait for my graduation to begin working at IDEO. This book is inspiring all people, no matter what age they have. And it's definitely the first step into a industrial design career for young people!

Kevin Li, Hong Kong
It is a pity that the book did not include more pictures about the projects described by the author. Perhaps that's why another book on IDEO is already on the market. For any fans of IDEO, my recommendation is to buy both!

Robert Hager, Los Angeles
There are three types of change, quality improvement, replacement and innovation. This treatment of innovation was a lightning bolt of clarity for understanding. I'm now applying it to organization as a "product." Thanks Tom!

Debra Wisler, Arizona
How inspiring! I never thought reading this book would bring me so much joy. The "nuts" (endearment for fun innovators) and bolts of IDEO were an inspiration to me. My whole life I've felt like I have a greatness within to bring better ways of making people's lives easier and have fun doing it. You have given me hope that I can still achieve this dream. I'm looking for my niche. Your book may have enlightened me to a more Zen-like approach to brainstorming the reinvention of myself.

Bjorn Eggertsson, Kr-sand, Norway
Being a design student the book served not only as a source of inspiration, but also a reminder of how to turn back to the playfulness of design and innovation. Well written and an absolutely excellent mind "catalyst".

Jordon Cooper, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Canada
I have been waiting for this book for years. I am a pastor and idea catalyst for a church. What we have learned from this book has changed the way we look at team, interact, create, and think about barriers. An incredible book!

Marci Shaver, Virginia
My whole life has been spent being the squeaky wheel - asking questions, trying to find better ways of doing things. It would be marvelous to work for a company that appreciates such curiosity! We just bought a small business and all these ideas will definitely be brought to bear on it! Thanks so much.

Robin Moore, Florida
The book has application to other fields as well. I teach experimental mixed media and collage art, and a few weeks ago I had everyone push their work tables together and work on each other's papers. We came up with very interesting images and everyone enjoyed it thoroughly. After reading your book, I realized we were a hot team brainstorming! What a great affirmation!

Rocco Piscatello, New York
Bravissimo!. . . I bought the book on tape and I haven't slept since. It is really great to hear a large design shop like yourself is interested and in fact is know for "understanding" the important things in life. Like Mies said, 'God is in those details'. Thanks for the stories, . . .

Jeffery Lee, Singapore
Being an industrial design student, the book was technically helpful in reminding me what industrial design and being an industrial designer was all about (passion, innovation, fun!). Everything inside this book was very enlightening because it not only brought the gist of its contents to a simple, digestable and readable level, but also the quotes of actual projects as examples made the entire book absolutely credible. Everything was simply honest and inspiring. Finally, a "design-related" book different from the rest!

I am an owner of a local construction company and I found this book to have wonderfully helpful insights for me. I've never raved about a book before, but after spending three days of my recent vacation engrossed in the book, I felt compelled to look up your site and provide my feedback. I have since ordered two additional copies of the book for my partners to read. I think it will help us look at our business a whole new way. The book is so well written that it was a great pleasure to hear what he had to say. I also particularly enjoyed the examples of the work that your firm has been involved in. It makes readers realize that Tom knows what he is talking about, not just espousing an opinion. I would gladly read anything more that he might publish or would have to say. Perhaps a speaking engagement. Thank you for writing something so thought provoking and useful. So many of these books are long winded and seemingly pointless. Thanks again.

Sean Hughes, Durban, South Africa
After reading chapter 1 on the internet, I decided immediately to buy the book. After reading it, I am going to have to find a way to get involved with IDEO! Innovation is like a drug... The more you innovate, the better you feel.

Thom Jackson, New York City
Not just a great book for management but should be required reading for educators of all levels as well. Thank you for a kick in the seat for all of us who aspire to be innovative in our careers and our lives.

John Cesario, Redwood Shores, CA
I listened to your interview the other day on NPR and your insights and humor kept me listening in my car long after I pulled into my garage. Inspiring. Looking forward to reading the book. Thanks.
